Thought Filters

Nothing is exactly as it seems nor is it otherwise. – Zen Proverb

Seems contradictory, but true. We know that whatever we see is true from our position, our standpoint, our perspective. We know that it would look different from another perspective, and different from yet another perspective.

This is not limited to what we perceive through our senses. All our experiences are the results of our perspectives. But, sometimes we refuse to accept this.

Hence, it is said that nothing is exactly as it seems nor is it otherwise. From our position it cannot be otherwise. What is being seen or observed or experienced is effected by the seer, observer, experiencer.

Thus, the wise thing is to always remember the possibility of another experience. If we change our thought filters, we will see a different world altogether. You will always experience the evidence of your beliefs. I believe that God exists and I experience God’s presence.

Time is the mould of human thought.

The trouble is you think you have time – Jack Kornfield

We do not have time because there is no time. Seriously. There is no time. Time does not exist.

Now you will ask me what is yesterday, today, and tomorrow then? What is past, present, future? Right? These are all our linguistic constructions for communication. There were no such constructions before language came into existence. But, there was life. And people and animals and birds and trees all were living.

To quote Immanuel Kant: Space is the form of ‘outer sense’ and time is the form of ‘inner sense’.

In short, time is the mould of human thought. Try thinking or saying anything without using any tense: past, present or future. Really. Try it. Can you? But, then didn’t the people who lived before the invention of language think? Of course, they did!  But, they must always be thinking about the present moment. They used their memory and imagination together to discover, create, innovate, invent.

We really have this moment. Do not postpone anything. Do it now. Unpack your heart and start doing all you desire. Right here. Right now. It’s not difficult. Our mind makes it look difficult. As Eckhart Tolle says, be out of your mind every once in a while. Meet the God who stays out of your mind. God exists in our experience.

Louise Hay The Angel

This moment is filled with joy. I choose to experience the sweetness of today.

This is one of the most beautiful affirmations Louise Hay gifted us all. Yes, we have a choice of feeling. We may or may not have created every experience of our life. But, we allow all the experiences in our life. We create or we passively allow. As the responsibility lies with us, so is the freedom. We are free to decide about how we want to feel.

Louise also believed that the word ‘should’ is a limiting word and should be removed from the dictionary. She suggested ‘could’ as a replacement. It is more empowering.

She has given a thorough prescription for bringing change in our lives. Dealing with resistance to change and building the new are the two very important practical guidances any motivational book can give us. For me, however, You Can Heal Your Life is not just a motivational self help book. It’s a Bible.

Philosophers before her also spoke about Self Love, Self Acceptance, and Self Forgiveness. But, she has explained these phenomena with great clarity and effectiveness. In her opinion, self love is the solution to every problem of your personality or life.

Louise Hay was a reservoir of Affirmations. All her books not only list affirmations, but contain the A to Z of affirmations. She has proved with personal example how a change in thought can heal even cancer.

She had put decades in the qualitative research about the mind and body relationship. Heal Your Body was her first book which was based on the outcomes of her research. It was very small, yet contained great wisdom. Her deductions are approved by the medical professionals.

Her passion to heal the world is unmatchable. Her devotion to spread the importance of self love is peerless. For me, she is immortal. I did grieve for her transition. But, now I choose to celebrate the fact that She was born. She was a blessing to mankind. Her works will serve the mankind for ages. I have been gifting her phenomenal book You Can Heal Your Life. I will continue to do that. But, my true tribute to Louise is making her favourite affirmation a part of my daily life: I love and approve of myself.

I love you, Louise and shall always do. Louise was the example of the existence of the Divine.

Consequences of Silence

Every word has consequences. Every silence, too. – Jean Paul Sartre

We have heard several times how words should be used carefully. We know that words are like arrows which cannot be called back. We have a pretty good experience of all this.

But, have we noticed the benefits of silence? And what is meant by silence?

Silence is not just absence of audible speech. Silence is quietening of the inner dialogue. Not by force, but with patience and understanding. When we arrive at such silence we experience true peace.

Peace has tremendous power, even more power than words. The mind which is peaceful and still is a powerful magnet. With peace even the most tough and complex  situations can be resolved.

These are the consequence of silence. Howsoever well-articulated the words may be, they cannot match the power of silence. And this can be known with experience alone.

Choose to experience the strength of silence. It is the same as experiencing Divinity.

Change

We have a whole lot of complaints to make about people, places, things, institutions, organizations, systems, and even ourselves. Fair. Nothing wrong. But, what next?

Next, remember the prayer:

God give me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
Courage to change the things I can,
And wisdom to know the difference.

Once understood the difference, and gathered courage, we can use our knowledge, creative imagination and resources to bring about the change we think we can.

The easiest way to bring change in the surroundings is through personal change. When we change, everything in life changes. Many find it difficult. But, it needs only two things: Intention and Determination. Rest follow.

The best way for bringing a positive change in our life, in my opinion, is to be grateful for each and everything which is of even slighest advantage, importance or good for us. Counting blessings can counter complaints. God hears the prayer of Love and Gratitude first.

Intent

Intent > Action > Events > Results
– Chris Oler

Many a time I am asked: Can I attract this…can I attract that? The answer is: You cannot ‘Not Attract’. You are attracting something every moment. You may not know it or may not accept it as attracted by you. What you need to know is how you attract something.

It starts from Intent. You must be clear about the desired outcome…not the process. The path will be chalked out for you if you remain focused on the desired outcome.

People with similar intent can accomplish the desired outcome in a variety of ways. Their ways need not be identical…rather, cannot be identical. Our intent inspires us to move in a particular direction and to take a series of actions. And the series of actions is not revealed to us at once. It unfolds as we move ahead.

Our job is to believe in our intent and be consistent in taking action as per the inspiration. The events that take place during the process are the milestones, not the destination. Although we should enjoy and celebrate crossing these milestones, we should not attach undue importance to them. We should not allow our focus to deviate from the desired outcome.

Nothing can motivate us more than our own Intent and desire. Any external motivation will wither away leaving us weary and withdrawn. But, if we truly desire an outcome and move ahead in that direction, the result will ensue. We will find God waiting to celebrate with us there.

Colour of Music

And those who were seen dancing were thought to be insane by those who could not hear the music. – Friedrich Nietzsche

Do you have ears that can listen to music in everything? Life is filled with melody and rhythm. Catch the notes, play the keys and create symphonies. And even when you cannot hear melody and rhythm, create harmony with the music in your heart.

Music expresses that which cannot be put into words and that which cannot remain silent. – Victor Hugo

Music is a language in itself. You can convey almost anything, even silence. Music can be a companion in joy and it can be the best pal in gloomy moments.

Music was my refuge. I could crawl into the space between the notes and curl my back to loneliness. – Maya Angelou

Music is soothing and healing and above all it’s a colour that can fill the spaces in our life sketches.

If I were not a physicist, I would probably be a musician. I often think in music. I live my daydreams in music. I see my life in terms of music. – Albert Einstein

A lot can be said about music and a lot has already been said. And this is my favourite quote:
Music gives a soul to the Universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything. – Plato

Music is my first love. What about you? And as Neale Donald Walsch says, if you desire to be happier than God, then sing or at least hum!
