Breaking free from forgiveness

Forgiveness is a personal process that doesn’t depend on us having direct contact with the people who have hurt us. – Sharon Salzberg

Many a time forgiveness becomes very hard because we mistakenly think that we must stay in the relationship that is causing us pain. You have every right to break free from a relationship if it is hurting to be in it.

Do not hold your breath for anyone,
Do not wish your lungs to be still,
It may delay the cracks from spreading,
But eventually they will.
Sometimes to keep yourself together
You must allow yourself to leave,
Even if breaking your own heart
Is what it takes to let you breathe.
Erin Hanson

But, remember. We must forgive the person not for causing hurt and pain. This would amount to being judgmental. We must forgive as Louise Hay says: I forgive you for not being the way I wanted you to be. I set you free and I set myself free. This is admitting that your hurt is the result of your own expectations, even if the expectations were just and natural.

And don’t forget to forgive yourself. It will free you from your past. When we forgive we allow the evolution of our own soul. We pave the way for health, wealth and prosperity to usher in our lives.

By the way, God doesn’t need to forgive. Because He doesn’t judge at all. Being non-judgmental will free us from the ritual of forgiveness and will make us a magnet for the best of everything in the world.
